SABIC to halt development of $5.3 billion methanol facility

Petrochemical giant SABIC is halting plans to develop a $5.3 billion methanol complex in the energy-rich Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Sabic has decided not to continue with negotiations for the planned complex after the 'relevant parties did not reach a deal on the fundamental conditions for this project.'

Shell to acquire Repsol's LNG portfolio outside North America

Royal Dutch Shell plc continues to expand its industry leadership in LNG, agreeing to acquire part of Repsol's LNG portfolio outside of North America, including supply positions in Peru and Trinidad & Tobago, for a cash consideration of $4.4 billion.The acquisition will add a new dynamic to Shell’s portfolio.

China will impose provisional anti-dumping duties on toluidine imported from the European Union. Chinese importers from the EU will be required to pay deposits customs ranging from 22.2 per cent to 36.9 per cent, depending on the dumping margin.

Hartwig Michels, currently President of BASF's global competence centre Procurement will become President of the Europe regional division as of 1 October 2013. He succeeds Jacques Delmoitiez who will retire effective 30 September 2013.

Sealed Air elects new CEO, Jerome Peribere

Sealed Air Corporation has elected Jerome A Peribere to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer as of 1 March 2013. Peribere joined Sealed Air in September 2012 as President and Chief Operating Officer as part of a succession planning process.
