John Robert Vane was born on March 29, 1927
Vane was an English pharmacologist and Nobel laureate
He discovered that the body's production of certain prostaglandins is slowed by aspirin
Vane also discovered prostacyclin
His work led to the development of cox-2 inhibitors
In 1982 Vane was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine
