Barium Chlorate

Barium chlorate is a white crystalline solid. It is an irritant, as are all barium compounds. If consumed, barium chlorate can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is used in pyrotechnics to produce a green color. A powerful oxidizing agent, the compound is used to manufacture matches. Barium chlorate can be produced through a double replacement reaction of barium chloride and sodium chlorate.

Barium Chloride Dihydrate

Barium chloride is mainly used in the purification of brine solution in caustic chlorine plants, waste water treatement, the production of PVC stabilizers, oil lubricants, barium cromate and barium fluoride. It is also used in the manufacture of heat treatment salts, hardening of steel, manufacture of pigments, manufacture of other barium salts,in fireworks.

Barium Formate

Barium Formate is a chemical compound with flash point 29.9°C . It is used in Textiles, paper and Metallurgical Industries.

Properties Suppliers
Barium Hydroxide

Barium hydroxide is a chemical compound. It is used in analytical chemistry for the titration of weak acids, particularly organic acids. Its clear aqueous solution is guaranteed to be free of carbonate, unlike those of sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide, as barium carbonate is insoluble in water. This allows the use of indicators such as phenolphthalein or thymolphthalein without the risk of titration errors due to the presence of carbonate ions, which are much less basic. It has been used to hydrolyse one of the two equivalent ester groups in dimethyl hendecanedioate. It is also used in the preparation of cyclopentanone, diacetone alcohol and D-Gulonic γ-lactone. It is used in a demonstration of endothermic reactions since, when mixed with an ammonium salt, the reaction becomes cold as heat is absorbed from the surroundings.

Barium Nitrate

Barium nitrate is a salt composed of barium and the nitrate ion.It occurs naturally as the rare mineral nitrobarite. Barium nitrate is an oxidizer and reacts vigorously with common reducing agents. It is used in producing various kinds of barium salts, colorants, explosives, uses in vacuum tube industry.

Barium Peroxide

Barium peroxide is one of the most common inorganic peroxides. It is use as an oxidizer in various ordnance and pyrotechnic mixtures. It is also used to bleach animal substances, vegetable fibers and straw. It can also be used in the manufacturing of oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. Combine with aluminum it is used in the welding industry. It can be used as an oxidizer in organic synthesis.

Barium Sulfate

Barium sulfate is an inorganic compound. It occurs as the mineral barite, which is the main commercial source of barium and materials prepared from it. The white opaque appearance and its high density are exploited in its main applications. About 80% of the world's barium sulfate production, mostly purified mineral, is consumed as a component of oil well drilling fluid. It increases the density of the fluid. The majority of synthetic barium sulfate is used as a component of white pigment for paints. In oil paint, barium sulfate is almost transparent, and is used as a filler or to modify consistency. It is frequently used clinically as a radiocontrast agent for X-ray imaging and other diagnostic procedures. It is most often used in imaging of the GI tract during what is colloquially known as a 'barium meal'. It is administered, orally or by enema, as a suspension of fine particles in an aqueous solution. Although barium is a heavy metal, and its water-soluble compounds are often highly toxic, the low solubility of barium sulfate protects the patient from absorbing harmful amounts of the metal. It is also used during the procedure of the soil pH test. It is a low surface area material used as a support for selectively hydrogenating functional groups sensitive to overreduction. It is commonly used as a component of strobe pyrotechnic compositions.

Bentonite, Sodian

Sodium bentonite expands when wet, absorbing as much as several times its dry mass in water. Because of its excellent colloidal properties, it is often used in drilling mud for oil and gas wells and for geotechnical and environmental investigations. The property of swelling also makes sodium bentonite useful as a sealant, especially for the sealing of subsurface disposal systems for spent nuclear fuel and for quarantining metal pollutants of groundwater. Similar uses include making slurry walls, waterproofing of below-grade walls, and forming other impermeable barriers, e.g., to seal off the annulus of a water well, to plug old wells, or to line the base of landfills to prevent migration of leachate. It is also used to form a barrier around newly planted trees to constrain root growth so as to prevent damage to nearby pipes, footpaths and other infrastructure.
