9-Phenylacridine is the parent base of chrysaniline or 3,6-diamino-9-phenylacridine, which is the chief constituent of the dyestuff phosphine, a by-product in the manufacture of rosaniline.
Acetic Anhydride is the simplest isolatable acid anhydride and is a widely used reagent in organic synthesis. Acetic anhydride is produced by carbonylation of methyl acetate. Acetic anhydride is used in the manufacture of cellulose acetate having the application as a base for magnetic tape and in the manufacture of textile fibres. It is also used in the manufacture of pigments, dyes, cellulose and pesticides.
Adipoyl chloride is a di-acyl chloride. It is a hazardous chemical that evolves HCl when reacted with water. It can be reacted with hexamethylene diamine, another toxic chemical, to form a perfectly safe product nylon.
Allyl isocyanate occurs in horseradish and mustard oils. It is made into an adhesive that is used in certain sailmaking techniques, which allow the resin skins to be formed into a one-piece sail.
Ammonium bromide is the ammonium salt of hydrobromic acid. The chemical crystallizes in colorless prisms, possessing a saline taste; it sublimes on heating and is easily soluble in water. On exposure to air it gradually assumes a yellow color because of the oxidation of traces of bromide to bromine. It is used for photography in films, plates and papers, in fireproofing of wood, in lithography and process engraving, in corrosion inhibitors and in pharmaceutical preparations.
