Methyl vinyl ketone is a reactive organic compound classified as an enone, and used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. It is also an intermediate in the synthesis of steroids and vitamin A.
Butanone, also known as methyl ethyl ketone or MEK, is an organic compound with the formula CH3C(O)CH2CH3. This colorless liquid ketone has a sharp, sweet odor reminiscent of butterscotch and acetone.Butanone dissolves many substances and is used as a solvent in processes involving gums, resins, cellulose acetate and nitrocellulose coatings and in vinyl films. For this reason it finds use in the manufacture of plastics, textiles, in the production of paraffin wax, and in household products such as lacquer, varnishes, paint remover, a denaturing agent for denatured alcohol, glues, and as a cleaning agent.
Molybdenum Trioxide occurs as the rare mineral molybdite. It is used to manufacture molybdenum metal, which serves as an additive to steel and corrosion-resistant alloys. Molybdenum Trioxide is also a component of the co-catalyst used in the industrial production of acrylonitrile by the oxidation of propene and ammonia. It is used as a catalyst for desulphurisation reactions and as raw material for production of pigments in the ceramic industry and for the production of frits.
Optimum Aluminum™ creates a hard coating to protect metal surfaces from indoor rust and corrosion caused by moisture and extended outdoor weathering. It inhibits chemical vapor corrosion.
Perchloryl fluoride is a reactive gas. It has a characteristic sweet odor that resembles gasoline and kerosene. It is toxic and is a powerful oxidizing and fluorinating agent. It is the acid fluoride of perchloric acid. Perchloryl fluoride is used in organic chemistry as a mild fluorinating agent. It was the first industrially-relevant electrophilic fluorinating agent, used since the 1960s for producing fluorinated steroids. It was investigated as a high performance liquid rocket fuel oxidizer. In comparison with chlorine pentafluoride and bromine pentafluoride, it has significantly lower specific impulse, but does not tend to corrode tanks. It does not require cryogenic storage. It can also be used in flame photometry as an excitation source.
