Methylhydroquinone

Methylhydroquinone is used as a stabilizer for unsaturated polyesters and as an antioxidant for fatty esters, linseed oil, and other nonfood fats and oils. It is used as a stabilizer to inhibit peroxide formation in ethers, chlorinated hydrocarbons and ethyl cellulose. It is also used as an intermediate to manufacture other stabilizers, dyes, pharmaceuticals and plasticizers.

Methylisothiazolinone

Methylisothiazolinone is a powerful synthetic biocide and preservative within the group of isothiazolinones, which is used in numerous personal care products and a wide range of industrial applications. Methylisothiazolinone is a cytotoxin that may affect different types of cells. Its use for a wide range of personal products for humans, such as cosmetics, lotions, moisturizers, sanitary wipes, shampoos, and sunscreens. Methylisothiazolinone's industrial applications also are quite wide ranging, from preservative and sanitizing uses to antimicrobial agents, energy production, metalworking fluids, mining, paint manufacturing, and paper manufacturing, many of which increase potential exposure to it by humans as well as organisms, both terrestrial and marine.

Molybdenum

Molybdenum is a transition metal. The element was discovered in 1778 by Carl Wilhelm Scheele. The metal was first isolated in 1781 by Peter Jacob Hjelm. Molybdenum readily forms hard, stable carbides, and for this reason it is often used in high-strength steel alloys. Industrially, molybdenum compounds are used in high pressure and high temperature applications, as pigments and catalysts. Molybdenum-containing enzymes are used as catalysts by some bacteria to break the chemical bond in atmospheric molecular nitrogen, allowing biological nitrogen fixation. The ability of molybdenum to withstand extreme temperatures without significantly expanding or softening makes it useful in applications that involve intense heat, including the manufacture of armour, aircraft parts, electrical contacts, industrial motors and filaments.

Molybdenum Hexacarbonyl

Molybdenum carbonyl is a metal carbonyl. It is widely used in electron beam-induced deposition technique - it is easily vaporized and decomposed by the electron beam providing a convenient source of molybdenum atoms. It is also a popular reagent in organometallic synthesis because one or more CO ligands can be displaced by other donor ligands. Molybdenum carbonyl and related derivatives are employed as catalysts in organic synthesis.
