Diethyl Ether

Diethyl Ether was first synthesized in 1540 by Valerius Cordus, and he termed as - sweet oil of vitriol. Diethyl ether is an extremely flammable organic solvent with many uses. Diethyl ether was one of the first anesthetics developed for surgical use, but has since been replaced by less flammable chemicals. Diethyl ether is commonly used as an industrial or laboratory solvent. It has narcotic properties and has been known to cause temporary psychological addiction, sometimes referred to as etheromania. Diethyl ether is particularly important as a solvent in the production of cellulose plastics such as cellulose acetate, fats, waxes, resins and similar substances. Diethyl ether has a high cetane number of 85-96 and is used as a starting fluid, in combination with petroleum distillates for gasoline and diesel engines. It is a common laboratory solvent. It is also a common solvent for the Grignard reaction in addition to other reactions involving organometallic reagents, liniments and analgesics (painkillers) and smokeless gun powder. It is also used in agricultural and pharmaceutical applications, as an intermediate in the preparation and manufacturing of other basic organic chemicals, as a catalyst in industrial polymerization processes, as an alternative fuel, as a foam expansion agent, and as an aerosol propellant for a variety of products that include adhesives, sealants, foam in a can, coatings, paints, automotive care products, topical skin cooling sprays, over the counter treatments, hairspray, sun screen and a variety of other personal care and household products. Diethyl ether can be prepared both in laboratories and on an industrial scale by the acid ether synthesis.

Properties Suppliers
Diiodomethane

Diiodomethane is a liquid organoiodine compound. It is used in the determination of the density of mineral and other solid samples. It is also used as a contact liquid for refractometers. It is a reagent in the Simmons-Smith reaction, serving as a source of methylene CH2.

Properties Suppliers
Gentisic Acid

Gentisic acid is a dihydroxybenzoic acid. It is a derivative of benzoic acid and a minor product of the metabolic break down of aspirin, excreted by the kidneys. As a hydroquinone, gentisic acid is readily oxidised and is used as an antioxidant excipient in some pharmaceutical preparations. In the laboratory, it is used as a sample matrix in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry.

Properties Suppliers
Iodosobenzene

Iodosobenzene is an organoiodine compound. It is used as an oxo transfer reagent in research laboratories examining organic and coordination chemistry. It is related to the more popular reagent periodinane.

Properties
Lead Monoxide

Lead monoxide is an inorganic compound. It is produced on a large scale as an intermediate in the conversion of lead ores, mainly galena into metallic lead. The consumption of lead, and hence the processing of PbO, correlates with the number of automobiles because it remains the key component of automotive lead-acid batteries. It is used extensively in manufacturing of lead glasses and ceramic glazes as well as in fine dinnerware. Other less dominating applications include the vulcanization of rubber and the production of certain pigments and paints. It is used in cathode ray tube glass to block X-ray emission, but mainly in the neck and funnel because it can cause discoloration when used in the faceplate. Strontium oxide is preferred for the faceplate. PbO is used in certain condensation reactions in organic synthesis.

Suppliers
Methyl Orange

Methyl orange is a pH indicator frequently used in titrations. Because it changes colour at the pH of a mid-strength acid, it is usually used in titrations for acids.

Properties Suppliers
Methylparaben

Methylparaben is a preservative. It is the methyl ester of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. It is an anti-fungal agent often used in a variety of cosmetics and personal care products. It is also used as a food preservative. It is commonly used as a fungicide in Drosophila food media. Usage of methylparaben is known to slow Drosophila growth rate in the larval and pupal stages.

Properties Suppliers
Molybdic Acid

Molybdic Acid is the hydrated forms of molybdenum trioxide. It is used for the determination of phosphorus or phosphate and lead. It is also used in glazes for ceramics, in manufacturing of Rock Phosphate based Fertilizers, Pigments, Dyes, Colors etc.
