Benzyl chloride is an organic compound. This colourless liquid is a reactive organochlorine compound that is a widely used chemical building block. Industrially, benzyl chloride is the precursor to benzyl esters which are used as plasticizer, flavorants, and perfumes. In organic synthesis, benzyl chloride is used for the introduction of the benzyl protecting group for alcohols, yielding the corresponding benzyl ether, and carboxylic acids, yielding the corresponding benzyl ester. It may be used in the synthesis of amphetamine-class drugs, and for this reason sales of benzyl chloride are monitored as a List II drug precursor chemical by the US Drug Enforcement Administration.

Isobutyric acid is a carboxylic acid. It is an isomer of n-butyric acid. It is used in the production of fibers, resins, plastics, and dyestuffs, and is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food additives.
Methyl chloride is a chemical compound of the group of haloalkanes. It was first synthesized by the French chemists Jean-Baptiste Dumas and Eugene Peligot in 1835 by boiling a mixture of methanol, sulfuric acid, and sodium chloride. It was a widely used refrigerant, but its use has been discontinued due to its toxicity and flammability. It was also once used for producing lead-based gasoline additives. The most important use of methyl chloride today is as a chemical intermediate in the production of silicone polymers. Smaller quantities are used as a solvent in the manufacture of butyl rubber and in petroleum refining. It is also used in a variety of other fields: as an extractant for greases, oils and resins, as a propellant and blowing agent in polystyrene foam production, as a local anesthetic, as an intermediate in drug manufacturing, as a catalyst carrier in low-temperature polymerization, as a fluid for thermometric and thermostatic equipment, and as a herbicide.
Phenylhydrazine is used in preparation of indoles which are intermediates in the synthesis of various dyes and pharmaceuticals. It is used to form phenylhydrazones of natural mixtures of simple sugars in order to render the differing sugars easily separable from each other. The compound is also used to induce acute hemolytic anemia in studies examining the hematopoietic system.
Propylene imine is used as an intermediate in the paper, textile, rubber, and pharmaceutical industries.
