Octopamine is an endogenous biogenic amine that is closely related to norepinephrine, and has effects on the adrenergic and dopaminergic systems. It was first discovered by Italian scientist Vittorio Erspamer in 1948 in the salivary glands of the octopus and has since been found to act as neurotransmitter, neurohormone and neuromodulator in invertebrates. It is widely used in energy-demanding behaviors by all insects, crustaceans and spiders. In vertebrates, octopamine replaces norepinephrine in sympathetic neurons with chronic use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors. It may be responsible for the common side effect of orthostatic hypotension with these agents, though there is also evidence that it is actually mediated by increased levels of N-acetylserotonin.
Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic.Olanzapine is an antagonist at types 1, 2, and 4 dopamine receptors, 5-HT receptor types 2A and 2C, muscarinic receptors 1 through 5, alpha(1)-receptors, and histamine H1-receptors. Olanzapine's antipsychotic effect is due to antagonism at dopamine and serotonin type 2 receptors, with greater activity at serotonin 5-HT2 receptors than at dopamine type-2 receptors.Symptoms of an overdose include tachycardia, agitation, dysarthria, decreased consciousness and coma. Death has been reported after an acute overdose of 0.45g, but also survival after an acute overdose of 1500g
Olmesartan belongs to the class of medications called angiotensin II receptor blockers. It is used to reduce blood pressure by blocking the actions of a chemical (angiotensin II) that causes blood vessels to constrict or tighten. As a result, olmesartan relaxes the blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. Olmesartan is used to treat mild to moderate high blood pressure.
Olsalazine is an anti-inflammatory drug used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease such as Ulcerative Colitis.
Xolair is produced by a Chinese hamster ovary cell suspension culture in a nutrient medium containing the antibiotic gentamicin.Xolair binds to IgE (a class of antibodies normally secreted in allergic responses), which prevents their binding to mast cells and basophils
Omeprazole a highly effective inhibitor of gastric acid secretion used in the therapy of stomach ulcers and zollinger-ellison syndrome. It inhibits the H(+)-K(+)-ATPase (H(+)-K(+)-exchanging ATPase) in the proton pump of gastric parietal cells by functioning as proton pump inhibitor.Omeprazole overdose include confusion, drowsiness, blurred vision, tachycardia, nausea, diaphoresis, flushing, headache, and dry mouth.
Orange oil is obtained from glands inside the rind of orange fruit. The orange oil have antiseptic, anti-depressant, antispasmodic, antiinflammatory, carminative, diuretic, cholagogue, sedative and tonic properties.
