Fumaric acid is a chemical compound. The salts and esters of fumaric acid are known as fumarates. It is used as acidity regulator in food products. Fumaric acid esters are used to treat psoriasis, as it has been suggested that the condition is caused by an impairment of fumaric acid production in the skin. It is used in the manufacture of polyester resins and polyhydric alcohols and as a mordant for dyes.
Fumonisin B1 is the most prevalent member of a family of toxins, known as fumonisins, produced by several species of Fusarium molds which occur mainly in maize (corn), wheat and other cereals.
Fumonisin B2 is a fumonisin mycotoxin produced by the fungi Fusarium verticillioides and Fusarium moniliforme. It frequently contaminate maize and other crops. It is used also to produce desiccation and defoliation.
Gatifloxacin is an antibiotic of the fourth-generation fluoroquinolone family. Inhibits the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.Well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration with absolute bioavailability of gatifloxacin is 96%.
Geranium oil is extracted from the plant Pelargonium geranium. It is used in the manufacture of a great number of high grade perfumes and cosmetic products such as soaps, detergents, creams, balms and lotions. It is sold for aromatherapy and massage therapy applications is sometimes used to supplement or adulterate more expensive rose oils.
Glycyrrhizin is the main sweet-tasting compound from liquorice root. It is 30 to 50 times as sweet as sucrose. Chemically, glycyrrhizin is a triterpenoid saponin glycoside of glycyrrhizic acid. Upon hydrolysis, the glycoside loses its sweet taste and is converted to the aglycone glycyrrhetinic acid plus two molecules of glucuronic acid. Although sweet, the taste sensation of glycyrrhizin is different from that of sugar. The sweetness of glycyrrhizin has a slower onset than sugar, and lingers in the mouth for some time. Unlike the artificial sweetener aspartame, glycyrrhizin maintains its sweetness under heating. Glycyrrhizin is used as a flavoring in some candies, pharmaceuticals, and tobacco products.
Griseofulvin is an antifungal drug that is administered orally. It is used both in animals and in humans, to treat fungal infections of the skin and nails. It is derived from the mold Penicillium griseofulvum.
Halofantrine is a drug used to treat malaria. Its structure contains a substituted phenanthrene, and is related to the antimalarial drugs quinine and lumefantrine. It is only used to treat malaria. It is not used to prevent malaria because of the risk of toxicity and unreliable absorption.
Halometasone is a corticosteroid. It can be used as topical glucocorticoid drug which has a significant and rapid anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-itch, anti-exudative and anti-proliferative effect.
