Cinchocaine is an amide local anesthetic. It is the active ingredient in some topical hemorrhoid creams. It is also a component of the veterinary drug Somulose, used for euthanasia of horses and cattle. It is one of the most potent and toxic of the long-acting local anesthetics and its parenteral use is restricted to spinal anesthesia.
Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic. It is usually used to treat infections with anaerobic bacteria but can also be used to treat some protozoal diseases, such as malaria. It is a common topical treatment for acne and can be useful against some methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections. The veterinary uses of clindamycin are quite similar to its human indications, and include treatment of osteomyelitis, skin infections, and toxoplasmosis, for which it is the preferred drug in dogs and cats.
Cycloserine is an antibiotic effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is also being trialed as an adjuvant to exposure therapy for anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia. It has been experimentally used for treatment of Gaucher's disease. It is a partial agonist at the glycine receptor, and has been shown to have cognition-enhancing properties for models of Parkinson’s disease in primates. It is also used as catalyst in the feilds of pharmaceuticals.
Decoquinate is a coccidiostat used in veterinary medicine.
Enpiprazole is a minor tranquilizer drug of the phenylpiperazine class. It has anxiolytic-like effects in animals, though these effects appear to be biphasic and may reverse at high doses. It is similar in chemical structure to related agents like mepiprazole and trazodone, and like them, produces mCPP as an active metabolite.
Glucosamine is an amino sugar and a prominent precursor in the biochemical synthesis of glycosylated proteins and lipids. It is part of the structure of the polysaccharides chitosan and chitin, which compose the exoskeletons of crustaceans and other arthropods, cell walls in fungi and many higher organisms. It is one of the most abundant monosaccharides. It is produced commercially by the hydrolysis of crustacean exoskeletons or, less commonly by fermentation of a grain such as corn or wheat. In the US it is one of the most common non-vitamin, non-mineral, dietary supplements used by adults. It is also used in veterinary medicine as an unregulated but seemingly accepted supplement having no proof of efficacy.
Clamoxyquine, as the pamoate or hydrochloride salt, is an antiamebic and antidiarrheal drug. It has been used as a veterinary medicine to treat salmonids for infection with the myxozoan parasite, Myxobolus cerebralis.
Medetomidine is a synthetic drug used as both a surgical anesthetic and analgesic. It is a crystalline white alpha-two adrenergic agonist that can be administered as an intravenous drug solution with sterile water. It is often used in combinations with opioids as premedication in healthy cats and dogs. It can be used as an antifouling substance in marine paint.
Praziquantel is an anthelmintic effective against flatworms. It is used against Schistosoma. As of 2005, praziquantel is the primary treatment for human schistosomiasis, for which it is usually effective in a single dose. It is also used to treat liver flukes such as Clonorchis sinensis, and against fascioliasis. In veterinary medicine it is widely used against tapeworms, either alone or in combination with pyrantel pamoate.
