5-Methoxy-N,N-Dimethyltryptamine is a powerful psychedelic tryptamine. It is found in a wide variety of plant and psychoactive toad species and, like its close relatives DMT and bufotenin. It is found in the venom of the Colorado River toad. 5-Methoxy-N,N-Dimethyltryptamine is a methoxy derivative of DMT. Its pharmacological action is mainly through serotonin (5-HT) receptors. 5-Methoxy-N,N-Dimethyltryptamine is often used with MAO-A inhibitors such as harmaline.
