Benazepril belongs to the class of medications called ACE inhibitors. It is the prescription medication used in dogs and cats for the treatment of heart failure, high blood pressure, and some forms of kidney disease. It works by relaxing blood vessels and reducing the workload of the heart. Benazepril may be used in addition to diuretics (water pills) known as thiazide diuretics.
