Benzoic acid is the simplest aromatic carboxylic acid.It consists of a carboxyl group attached to a phenyl group.Its salts are used as a food preservative and benzoic acid is an important precursor for the synthesis of many other organic substances.It is primarily used in manufacturing of alkyd resins, phenol, sodium benzoate and other organic benzoates,food industry.
