Cadmium Acetate is a white to colorless crystalline material with a slight vinegar odor. It is used in ceramics, textile dyeing, printing, electroplating and to make other acetate compounds. Cadmium Acetate is prepared by treating cadmium oxide with acetic acid. Cadmium Acetate may also be prepared by treating cadmium nitrate with acetic anhydride. Cadmium compounds are considered Group 1 carcinogens by the IARC.
