Ferruginol is a diterpene of the abietane chemical class that has been isolated from the needles of the redwood Sequoia sempervirens. It has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, cardioprotective, anti-oxidative, anti-plasmodial and anti-ulcerogenic actions.It induces PC3 cell death via activation of caspases as well as apoptosis-inducing factor.
