Flunixin meglumine, a potent, non-narcotic, non-steroidal analgesic agent with anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activity and it is a highly substituted derivative of nicotinic acid. Flunixin Meglumine is recommended for the alleviation of inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders in the horse. It is also recommended for the alleviation of visceral pain associated with colic in the horse. Flunixin Meglumine is indicated for the control of pyrexia associated with bovine respiratory disease and endotoxemia. Flunixin Meglumine is also indicated for the control of inflammation in endotoxemia. Flunixin Meglumine commonly is used for pain relief to treat colic. It is used for protection from septic/endotoxic shock due to any gastrointestinal (GI) insult either post-surgical or medical such as in cases of peritonitis or diarrhea.
