Oleic acid is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid found in various animal and vegetable fats. As an excipient in pharmaceuticals, oleic acid is used as an emulsifying or solubilizing agent in aerosol products. It is used as a soap base and in the production of food-grade additives, ointments, cosmetics, fragrance products, polishing compounds, surface coatings, and manufacturing driers. It is also used for waterproofing textiles and for thickening lubricating oils.
