Peroxybenzoic acid is a simple peroxy acid. It may be synthesized from benzoic acid and hydrogen peroxide, or by the treatment of benzoyl peroxide with sodium methoxide, followed by acidification. Like other peroxyacids, it may be used to generate epoxides.
