Tetramethylthiuram disulfide compound is used as a fungicide, seed disinfectant, bactericide, animal repellent, insecticide. It is used as a primary and secondary accelerator or as a sulfur donor (vulcanizing agent) in most sulfur-cured elastomers in rubber industry. It is also used in the treatments of chronic alcoholism with cause of acetaldehyde, a breakdown product of alcohol, to accumulate in the blood. It is a peptizing agent in sulfur-modified polychloroprenes. It is used in soaps and rodent repellents and as a nut, fruit and mushroom disinfectant.
