PARIS, FRANCE: Air Liquide has been selected by Natgasoline LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary by OCI NV to supply oxygen to its new methanol production plant in Beaumont, Texas, US. Air Liquide will invest around €90 million in this region where the chemical sector recorded strong growth.
Air Liquide has signed a long term contract with Natgasoline which provides for the supply of 2,400 tonne of oxygen per day. To meet the growing needs of this client for the production of chemicals based on natural gas, Air Liquide will build a new air separation unit (ASU) with a high energy efficiency and equipped with advanced technologies. This ASU will produce oxygen, the nitrogen and the argon. It will be connected to the extensive network of Air Liquide pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico, Texas and Louisiana, ensuring supplies for maximum reliability. Its commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2016.
The new plant will produce about 5000 tonne of methanol per day, and will become the largest site methanol production in the United States in terms of capacity. This method of production of methanol requires large scale quantities of pure oxygen.
“The recently signed contracts with OIC represents the unique know-how from Air Liquide, both as a technology partner and supplier of gas industrialists. We are pleased to expand our relationship with OIC and create value for our customers through reliable safer alternatives, and of high quality,” said Michael J Graff, Member of the Executive Committee, Air Liquide.
