JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA: Sahara Petrochemicals Company declares that the plants production units of its affiliate, Al Waha Petrochemicals Company, was shut down starting from Friday 1 June, 2012 corresponding 11 Rajab 1433 H according to the prescheduled plan of periodic maintenance in line with the standard criteria of routine preventive maintenance and to execute some turnaround developing changes in the PDH plant to enhance its performance.
Al Waha complex consists of two plants: the propylene (PDH) plant and the polypropylene (PP) plant. The PP plant performance was in line with the required criteria, whereas the PDH plant was performing less than the required level at around 73 per cent of its design capacity during the last period due catalyst coking which required chemical reactor cleaning and replacement of old catalysts with new ones.
Some parts of the plant will be under maintenance for 9 days and then resume operation, whereas some other parts will be under maintenance for a period of 45 days. During such period, customers will be supplied with their requirements through the standby stock available in warehouses, it informed.
