Asahi Kasei resumes operations in Japan


TOKYO, JAPAN: The Asahi Kasei Group announced that its Ishinomaki Plant (Miyagi Prefecture) has resumed partial operation since April 11 and repair work continues at the plant. As for its Sakai Plant (Ibaraki Prefecture), there is a possibility that operation may be affected by aftershocks and instability in the supply of production materials, etc. In a similar situation, the Neoma Foam Plant (Ibaraki Prefecture) has partially resumed on April 11 and is scheduled to return to normal in late April. There is a possibility that operation may be affected by aftershocks and instability in the supply of production materials.


For its Tomobe Plant (Ibaraki Prefecture), the company is working toward partial resumption of operation in mid-May and full operation in mid-June.


Also Asahi Kasei is investigating the impact of the earthquake on fiscal 2010 consolidated financial results and will announce the results thereafter.
