Ashland’s top executive resigns to join as CEO of a public company

KENTUCKY, US: Ashland Inc’s Theodore (Ted) Harris, senior VP and president of performance materials, has resigned to become the new CEO of New Hampton, NY-based Balchem Corp, reported news agencies.

Harris replaces outgoing Balchem CEO Dino Rossi, who will remain chairman of the board, effective April 28, said the news agencies.

Also Luis Fernandez-Moreno, senior VP and president of specialty ingredients has been promoted to the newly created position of senior VP and president of the chemicals group. A new leader for performance materials, who will report to Fernandez-Moreno, is expected to be appointed at a later date, said Ashland.

Moreover, Fernandez-Moreno and Sam Mitchell, senior VP and president of Valvoline, will join the executive committee, Ashland said.

“This new structure will enable both Luis and Sam to play bigger roles in the company’s ongoing decision making,” said William Wulfsohn, chairman and CEO, Ashland.
