HOOFDDORP, THE NETHERLANDS: Barentz Europe has been appointed Pan- European distributor for Nu-Tek Salt, a US based manufacturer of patented sodium reduction ingredients for the food industry. Many multinational consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies are already committed to salt reduction programme as evidence mounts that high sodium levels contribute to high blood pressure, heart disease and strokes leading to premature death.
“Europeans know that they need to reduce their salt intake. Governments in the UK and the Netherlands are close to making mandatory rules with the aim to reduce high blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases by having less sodium in food products. Nu-Tek provides a solution that can significantly reduce the sodium levels in bread, meat, pizzas, chips etc. This is a super solution and a huge step forward to formulating lower salt recipes,” said Hidde van der Wal, CEO, Barentz Europe.
