BASF inaugurates new polyvinylpyrrolidone plant in China

LUDWIGSHAFEN, GERMANY/SHANGHAI, CHINA: BASF SE inaugurates a new plant for the producing of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) at its site in Shanghai, China.

The plant will produce PVP K30 powder, a polymer utilized as a base for many applications including pharma excipients, cleansers, beauty care products and specialized applications. The generation of the new PVP plant grows its contact with customers in Asia-Pacific, particularly in China, with proceeded with dependable and fantastic supply.

PVP can be utilized in a wide scope of applications because of its features:

  • Easily soluble in water and solvents
  • Excellent in glue properties; improves solvency of dynamic pharmaceutical fixings (APIs)
  • Non-disturbing to the skin; do not pose a health hazard
  • Temperature-safe, pH-stable, non-ionic and colorless

This plant works in consistence with regional and worldwide Good Manufacturing Practice measures significant for the pharmaceutical and beauty care industry. A large segment of its PVP items are sold into the pharmaceutical business under the brand name Kollidon.
