BASF’s first e-commerce store on Alibaba in China, offering a wide range of products, including polyamide, MDI, pigments & dispersion, nutrition and health ingredients etc.
SHANGHAI, CHINA: BASF said it is making its solutions more accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with its first online store on Alibaba’s e-commerce platform.
SMEs that produce goods such as household electric appliances, coatings and ink, feed and packaged food and beverages as well as textile and furniture can now buy a wide range of BASF solutions directly from the online store, including polyamide, MDI, pigments and dispersion, nutrition and health ingredients. The site also supports small retailers of fuel additives and emissions treatment equipment. Customers can also use Alipay, a mature payment platform, to carry out safe and easy transactions.
“SMEs account for 99 percent of the total number of enterprises in China and contribute 60 percent to the gross domestic product. By launching our first store on Alibaba, customers from the SME segment can buy our products easily and efficiently. SMEs can also quickly obtain information and support online,” said Zheng Daqing, senior vice president, business and market development, Greater China, BASF.
For example, from Shandong, Sichuan, to Guangdong, China has over 10,000 feed processing factories, most of which are SMEs. The health of poultry and livestock is not only crucial to the survival of farmers, but also of great importance to end consumers in China. With BASF Alibaba online shop going live, more SME feed processing factories can learn about authentic feed additives from BASF and obtain relevant support.
BASF is the first multinational chemical company to showcase such a wide range of offerings via the Alibaba platform. Customers will enjoy a seamless experience from obtaining information of the company’s product lines, local contact methods, pricing, online trading, to offline logistics services, technological support and delivery.
