Biesterfeld acquires Kuttner, expands rubber business

HAMBURG, GERMANY: Biesterfeld AG has acquired all shares of Kuttner GmbH, Romerberg/Speyer, Germany with immediate effect. This transaction, which is still subject to regulatory approval, will put Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH in a position to expand its business for thermoplastic elastomers, rubber and rubber chemicals.

With this acquisition Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH reinforces its previously announced diversification strategy which was initiated by buying SMPC. This expansion is strengthened by the clear strategy of maintaining a common product portfolio across our territories consisting of supply from global industry leaders.

“With the acquisition of Kuttner GmbH, which also includes its Russian subsidiary OOO Kuttner, Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH continues this path. Building on a long history of success in the polymer resin business, in recent years Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH has built a specialized rubber distribution structure across Western Europe. Our new addition enables us to move further into the highly strategic markets of central and Eastern Europe,” said Carsten Harms, Managing Director, Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH.
