MONTREAL, CANADA: BioAmber Inc said that Francois Laurin, the company’s chief financial officer has resigned to pursue another employment opportunity and that his departure was not related to BioAmber’s financial condition or financial reporting. Andrew Ashworth, BioAmber’s former CFO who retired in Dec 2014, has been hired as full-time interim CFO and a search for a permanent successor is initiated, the company said.

Laurin will leave on 7 Aug, after BioAmber’s Q2 2015 financial results. Ashworth joined the company with immediate effect, to ensure a smooth transition, it said.

Ashworth was the company’s CFO from Sept 2011 to Dec 2014. During that time he prepared BioAmber for its initial public offering and oversaw regulatory compliance. He led the implementation of the ERP system and assembled the finance team that is in place today, the company said.

“Andy’s 26 years of financial experience, coupled with his deep understanding of BioAmber will ensure continuity and stability while we undertake a search for a new CFO,” said Jean-Francois Huc, BioAmber CEO.
