NANCHITAL, MEXICO: Braskem Idesa SAPI has inaugurated its new petrochemical complex located in the town of Nanchital, Veracruz (Mexico), with a total investment of 5,200 million dollars.
This complex is composed of an ethylene cracker based on ethane gas, two levels of high density polyethylene with a capacity of 750 thousand tonnes per year, low density polyethylene with 300 thousand tonnes per year and a cogeneration power plant electric 175kW; that will produce 1 million and 50 thousand tonnes of polyethylene per year with the latest technology.
The event was attended by the Pedro Joaquin Coldwell, secretary of energy; Flavin Rios Alvarado, secretary of government and Jose Antonio Gonzalez Anaya, the director of Pemex Company among other officials of federal, state and municipal government.
Braskem Idesa was represented by its director general Roberto Bischoff and representatives of its shareholders, Braskem Idesa of Mexico and Brazil.
Braskem Idesa is a company formed by the association of Braskem and Grupo Idesa in 2010.
With this complex, Braskem Idesa has a positive impact on the balance of foreign exchange totalling up to 2,000 million dollars per year; this represents roughly 10 percent reduction in the deficit of the national chemical sector. Also, this project provides opportunities for social and economic development, since from the beginning of its construction in 2010, were created more than 26,000 temporary jobs and the start of the operational phase, this semester, approximately 3,000 permanent positions, where Mexican south-east region are the main beneficiaries.
This complex contributes to the revival of the National Petrochemical and may be anchor Transoceanic Corridor, an initiative recently announced by President Enrique Pena Nieto as part of SEZ - Special Economic Zones.
