MULHEIM AN DER RUHR, GERMANY: Chemical distributor Brenntag AG said it has signed a distribution agreement with Germany-based carbon clean tech AG (CCT), a producer of recovered carbon black (rCB) pigments. The agreement focuses on the coatings, construction and polymers industries and covers an extensive list of countries that include France, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and Morocco. In addition, Russia and Ukraine are included for the rubber market.
CCT uses a patented technology, which utilizes post-consumer rubber as a feedstock, rather than oil. It is the only rCB producer to have ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 quality and environmental certifications and to have grades which conform to the EU 10/2011 food contact regulations, said Brenntag.
“This is an exciting and significant additional development for our range of environmentally friendly products. rCB will significantly reduce the CO2 emissions associated with the use of black pigments. This partnership enables us to contribute to a sustainable and waste-free industry,” said Martin Rimmer, European marketing manager, coatings & construction, Brenntag Europe, Middle East and Africa.
