BOSTON, US/BEIJING, CHINA: Cabot (China) Ltd and Risun Chemicals Co entered into a joint venture wherein Cabot owns a 60-per cent equity interest in the new joint venture. Additionally, Cabot and Risun will invest approximately $ 100 million to construct a carbon black manufacturing facility in Xingtai City, located about 250 miles (400 kilometers) south of Beijing.
Once commissioned in early 2013, the Xingtai facility will produce approximately 130,000 metric tons of carbon black annually with the potential for expansion to 300,000 metric tons. The new plant will employ advanced emissions control technology and energy recapture.
“The new facility will enable the manufacture of products not readily available in China. This will meet changing needs of tire producers in this important region. Customers can avail a long-term, secure source of high quality material in China and we can provide innovative solutions for their needs,” said Dave Miller, Executive VP and General Manager, Cabot Core Segment.
