CB&I, CTCI JV wins $2.8 billion contract in Oman

THE WOODLANDS, US: Chicago Bridge & Iron Company NV (CB&I) said that the CB&I and CTCI Corp joint venture has won a $2.8 billion contract from Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co to provide engineering, procurement and construction services to Liwa plastics industrial complex at Sohar, Oman.

The JV will provide the services for a grassroots 880,000-mt/year ethylene plant, pygas unit and methyl tert-butyl ether plant, as well as all the related offsites and utilities. CB&I will also construct cryogenic and atmospheric storage tanks and pipe spool fabrication.

“CB&I is pleased to have been selected for this significant project following the successful completion of the front end engineering and design of the Liwa Plastics Project for Orpic,” said Philip Asherman, president and chief executive officer, CB&I.

“This new award builds upon the successful relationship between Orpic and CB&I,” he said.
