SITTARD, THE NETHERLANDS: Stamicarbon, the licensing and IP centre of Maire Tecnimont SpA, has been awarded two contracts for licensing and process design packages for two new urea plants for CF Industries Holdings Inc, Deerfield, US. The front-end engineering design study has already been completed for these projects and this has now resulted in the license and PDP contracts.
One plant will be built in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, US and the other plant in Port Neal in Iowa, US. Both plants will have a capacity of 3850 tonne urea per day, which will place them among the biggest ever designed by Stamicarbon. Engineering and Procurement will be carried out by ThyssenKrupp Uhde.
The plants will use Stamicarbon’s Urea2000Plus technology, which features Stamicarbon’s unique Pool condenser and the complete synthesis section in Safurex stainless steel. Start-ups are planned for 2015 in Donaldsonville and for 2016 in Port Neal.
