Clariant Business Deal with OMV

MUTTENZ, SWITZERLAND: Specialty chemicals producer, Clariant, has signed a long-term supply contract with Austrian oil and gas firm, OMV. Effective from 2015, OMV will supply ethylene to Clariant’s site in Gendorf, Germany. This agreement will allow Clariant to source most of its requirements for ethylene in southern Bavaria. Clariant produces ethylene oxide on the Gendorf site, for which ethylene is a major raw material.

“We are delighted to have signed this long-term supply contract with OMV. It underlines the close cooperation which exists within the chemical industry in southern Bavaria. It is also a clear indication of Clariant’s commitment to the Gendorf site, from where we supply the European customers of the Industrial & Consumer Specialties (ICS) Business Unit,” said Michael Riedel, Regional Head for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), ICS, Clariant.
