Clariant supplies powder pigments for seed colouring in China
The Agrocer series consists of six powder pigments and pigment pastes that can be combined with a wide range of custom colours.

SHANGHAI, CHINA: Clariant has launched a full range of Agrocer seed colourants in China. Agrocer colourants are available in both powder and pigment paste formats, including the six most common colours, and have passed the seed safety test.

Agrocer pigment paste is an aqueous dispersion based on six Agrocer pigments. Compared to powdered pigments, Agrocer pigment pastes can provide agrochemicals, seed and seed processing companies with safety-standard solutions that meet their goal of producing superior high-value products, ultimately achieving higher productivity and lower production costs.

The seed treatment product industry is one of the fastest growing market segments in the agricultural sector. Colourants play a very important role in distinguishing brand differences, legal compliance, product consistency control, and sowing accuracy.

Clariant's Agrocer paste is highly compatible with commonly used seed coating and seed coating products. Agrocer pigment pastes have a high solids content, are easy to disperse and have a long shelf life, and therefore have superior colouring power.

Agrocer's products are free of nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (NPE) and alkyl phenol ethoxylates (APE), do not irritate the eyes and do not require any dangerous signs. In addition, the series also has the advantages of low content of heavy metals and primary amines. Due to its extremely strong safety and environmental characteristics, Clariant Agrocer products comply with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations for inert ingredients and are globally accepted.

Compared to powdered pigments, Agrocer pigment pastes have a series of easy-to-handle benefits, including increased cleanliness and improved workplace hygiene. Due to the reduction of the grinding process, the product yield is improved and the stable dispersion quality is also guaranteed. In addition, downtime due to cleaning up production equipment can also be reduced.

“We are pleased to introduce the first batch of professional colourants to the seed processing industry. The high quality of our pigment pastes can meet the expectations of our customers. The general direction of development of agrochemicals and seed industries towards pigment pastes has catered to manufacturers' desire to quickly and cost-effectively colour seed, seed coating agents and fertilizers,” Wu Hongzhi, Director of Clariant pigments business unit, Greater China.
