DuPont Tate & Lyle, RML develop bio based material for personal care products

WILMINGTON, US: DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Company LLC has partnered with RML Inc in creating a new line of alternative preservatives called PolyGuard. The PolyGuard line features the proprietary ingredient Zemea propanediol, a 100 per cent bio-based ingredient made from corn sugar through fermentation and developed for use in the cosmetics and personal care market.

RML designed its new preservative line, PolyGuard, capitalizing on the ability of Zemea to boost preservative efficiency along with its proven lack of irritation in cosmetic and personal care products in combination with the natural preservative, e-polylysine, which is derived through the fermentation of bacteria.

“The innovators in the cosmetic and personal care industry are increasingly demanding functional ingredients of natural origin that improve product performance. We are pleased RML Incorporated chose to collaborate with DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products for the development of the PolyGuard preservative systems featuring Zemea propanediol,” said Pete Colombo, Account Executive, DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products.
