KINGSPORT, USA: Eastman Chemical Company said it will discontinue manufacture and supply of two of its ortho-phthalate plasticizers - DEP and DBP as of December 31, 2011. Throughout the year, Eastman will help customers smoothen the transition. “With the recent acquisition of the Benzoflex family of benzoate plasticizers and the launch of Eastman DBT non-phthalate plasticizer, we have an excellent and broad offering of non-phthalate alternatives in the fast-fusing, high-solvating segment that meet our customers’ needs. DEP and DBP are no longer part of our strategic growth plans or vision of the future and hence they are discontinued,” said Dr Steve Cullen, Business Manager, Plasticizer Strategy, Eastman. © WOC News
