Europe chemical production drops to 3.2 pc in November due to rise in prices

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM: According to the European Chemical Industry Council group, Europe’s chemical industry produced 3.2 per cent less in November, as prices rose. The drop in production was led by petrochemicals which fell 7.5 percent with specialties and polymers declining 6.8 per cent and 6.5 per cent respectively, Brussels-based Cefic said in an e- mailed statement. Consumer chemicals gained 4.5 per cent. Prices in November climbed with basic inorganics rising 12 per cent and petrochemicals gaining 7.2 per cent, said Cefic.
