ESSEN, GERMANY: Evonik Industries acquired the Hanse Chemie Group, which will enable it to enter additional markets for specialty applications in silicone chemistry. This included the acquisition of Hanse Chemie AG and Nanoresins AG. Both parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
“Acquiring Hanse Chemie Group is a great way to add silicone-based products to our current activities. Our objective is to enter the market for specialty silicone materials. This move is one more step in systematically aligning our company to specialty chemicals and customer-oriented solutions,” said Patrik Wohlhauser, Chairman of the Board of Management of Evonik Degussa GmbH.
Based near Hamburg, the Hanse Chemie Group produces high-quality components and raw materials for the manufacture of sealants and adhesives, molding and casting compounds. Evonik is a leading supplier of products such as organomodified silicones and silicas in a number of industrial and consumer-oriented markets. And this addition will help Evonik improve its competitive position.
