MUMBAI, INDIA: Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) is planning to invest about Rs 460 crores for building hydrazine hydrate and phosphoric acid plants at its Dahej facility in Gujarat, India.
GACL will invest Rs 160 cr and Rs 300 cr on setting up a 10,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) hydrazine hydrate plant and 33,870 tpa food grade phosphoric acid project at Dahej, respectively.
The hydrazine hydrate plant is planned to go on stream in 24 months from the zero date and the phosphoric acid project is planned to go on stream in 30 months from the zero date, said GACL in a BSE filing. Hydrazine hydrate is widely used as a reducing agent or an intermediate of synthesis in various sectors such as water treatment, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
The technology for hydrazine hydrate plant has been developed by GACL jointly with Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Hyderabad, India. The hydrazine hydrate project when implemented would contribute to the annual sales revenue by approximately Rs 200 crores, according to GACL.
