Haldor Topsoe focuses on expansion in China, appoints new MD

LYNGBY, DENMARK: Haldor Topsoe has appointed Per Bakkerud as new Managing Director for the subsidiary in Beijing. To strengthen business in China Topsoe has restructured the organisation, the company informed.

In China the industry’s demand for Topsoe’s catalysts and technologies grows, as the need for innovative and cost-efficient operation which meets the stronger environmental regulations is increasing. Here, Per Bakkerud comes from a position as Vice-President for New Technologies in Topsoe, Denmark.

“We wish to further expand activities in China and introduce new technologies to the market. Per Bakkerud’s extensive knowledge of Topsoe’s product portfolio as well as his expertise of new technologies, will enable him to introduce our latest developments in the Chinese market,” said Niels Kegel Sorensen, CEO, Topsoe Group.

“We see many ways in which we can assist China in the current developments – Topsoe’s processes and catalysts can meet many of the needs of the Chinese industries. Our environmental technologies which support air cleaning hold a great potential,” said Per Bakkerud.

Topsoe’s Beijing office currently counts 40 employees and plans for expansion include a target of 50 employees by 2011.
