EDDYVILLE, US: HF Chlor-Alkali LLC, a newly formed affiliate of Indianapolis-based Harris & Ford, will commence construction on a manufacturing plant adjacent to Cargill’s corn milling facility in Eddyville, Iowa, US. HF Chlor-Alkali will make caustic soda, muriatic acid and bleach at the Cargill Eddyville complex, also known as the Iowa Bioprocessing Centre.

The plant will have production capacity of 100,000 dry short tonne of caustic soda and 250,000 short tonne of muriatic acid per year. It will serve all of Cargill’s US plants as well as other customers. The plant is expected to start operations in early 2015.

“With this project, our company moves beyond distribution into manufacturing. It’s a major expansion in scope for us, and we couldn’t ask for a more respected company than Cargill to help us take this step. As we grow, our central focus remains on providing our customers the highest standard of service in our industry,” said Tim Harris, President, Harris & Ford.
