Hitachi begins manufacturing of functional resin in China

NANTONG, CHINA: Hitachi Chemical (Nantong) Co Ltd (HCNT), subsidiary of Hitachi Chemical Co Ltd, has commenced operation as a manufacturing and sales base for the functional resin and chemical material businesses in China. With the expansion of domestic demand in China, the demand for the functional resins and chemical materials used in building material, automotive coatings, material for food packaging, as well as electronic devices such as smartphones is expanding, and these markets are growing at a pace of 8 per cent per year.

With the commencement of operations at HCNT now has four manufacturing bases - including also Japan, Malaysia, and Dongguan in China - for the functional resins and chemical materials. Hitachi Chemical aims to capture the demand in East Asia and the ASEAN region and further strengthen and expand the businesses. Furthermore, HCNT also plans to produce the ‘CF Series,’ a conductive film for solar cells. HCNT is now preparing to commence those operations during the second quarter of fiscal 2013.
