JBF RAK signs MoU with BP to set up PET facility in Belgium

 

MUMBAI, INDIA: JBF RAK LLC (JBF RAK), a wholly-owned subsidiary of JBF Industries Ltd, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BP Aromatics Ltd N V (BP) to build a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) facility in Geel, Belgium.

 

The proposed CP/SSP manufacturing unit will be co-located on BP’s existing petrochemicals site in Geel, adjacent to BP’s PTA facility which will supply purified terephthalic acid (PTA) directly to the PET plant. The project under discussion is for a 390,000 ton per annum PET manufacturing unit and is scheduled to commence in 2014.

 

JBF RAK currently operates a 390,000 MT per annum PET resin and 80,000 MT per annum BOPET manufacturing facility situated in the emirates of Ras Al Khiamah, UAE.
