JGC bags Sadara’s aromatics plant contract in Saudi Arabia

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN: JGC Corporation’s subsidiary, JGC Gulf International Co Ltd, has been awarded a contract for an aromatics plant project from Sadara Chemical Company (Saudi Aramco and Dow Chemical joint venture). The lump-sum turnkey contract calls for engineering, procurement, and construction services for an aromatics plant in Saudi Arabia’s Jubail region. The plant is scheduled to be completed in 2014.

Sadara will construct, own and operate a world-scale integrated chemicals complex in Saudi Arabia's Jubail Industrial City II. The aromatics plant project awarded to JGC Gulf International will be one of the key upsteam manufacturing units in the Sadara complex.

For the Sadara project, JGC Gulf International was selected for the contract award due to its project execution abilities and performance record in Saudi Arabia, as well as its cost-competitiveness.

Currently, JGC has been working toward the goal of strengthening and expanding its overseas EPC subsidiaries, as laid out in its current medium-term management plan, “New Horizon 2015.” Through the Sadara project, JGC Gulf International is expected to be able to further improve its project execution abilities.
