KBR bags ammonia plant contract in Waggaman, US

HOUSTON, US: KBR has been awarded a contract by Incitec Pivot Limited’s US business, Dyno Nobel, to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, as well as technology licensing and equipment for an ammonia plant to be built in Waggaman, Louisiana, US. The contract award is valued at approximately $600 million. This award also builds upon KBR’s portfolio of solid construction execution, positioning KBR to capitalize on the rapidly increasing shale gas market in North America.

The 800,000 metric tonne of ammonia per annum facility will be designed using KBR’s PurifierTM technology, which has a documented track record of safe and reliable operations and offers the lowest energy consumption in the industry.

“We are proud that Dyno Nobel has selected KBR for the construction of a world-scale ammonia plant in Louisiana. This award affirms our position as a recognized leader in ammonia plant technology and EPC services. I look forward to the successful completion of this project that will enable our client to extract the maximum possible performance from this world-class facility,” said David Zelinski, President, Downstream, KBR.
