HURTH, GERMANY/ANTWERP, BELGIUM: The Lanxess chemicals group has commissioned Talke for the planning, construction and operation of the logistics facility for its polyamide 6 plant in Antwerp. The new factory in the Belgian port has been designed for an annual output of around 90,000 metric tonne and is a central component in the hi-tech production of Lanxess plastics.
In addition, the specialist service provider will run the logistics side of the business for a five-year period from the start-up of production. The proposal is for a logistics facility with a pneumatic conveyor system, six silos and an adjoining warehouse with packaging facilities for ‘big bags’ and 25-kg bags. Annual production is initially planned to reach approximately 90,000 metric tonne of polyamide 6.
The construction project is to be carried out by the Talke Logistic Solutions division. The operational side will be managed by Talke Belgium. The logistics service provider will be managing not only the works-based operations such as packaging, storage, despatch and plant maintenance but also the transport of containers to and from the seaport as well as the necessary customs clearance.
“The combined expertise of our specialists in consulting, value-added services, storage and transportation means that we can take into account all the key factors right from the start of any new project. This makes us more than just a haulage operator for our customers; we are also a full partner in the planning and execution of complex projects,” said Alfred Talke, Managing Director, Talke.
