Mitsubishi Chemical restarts Kashima facility

TOKYO, JAPAN: Mitsubishi Chemical has restarted production at the company’s number 1 ethylene production facility at Kashima. The facility had stopped operations due to the damage caused by the earthquake and tsunami that struck the northeast of Japan on March 11. Mitsubishi started the plant after restoration and regular maintenance procedures had been completed. The production facilities for derivatives have also completed a scheduled maintenance and are restarting operations, the company says.

Meanwhile the number 2 ethylene production facility that restarted operations, the polyethylene production facility and part of the polypropylene facility, are scheduled to start regular maintenance, at the end of August, as previously announced.
