Mitsubishi Chemical to expand PVC compound production in Thailand

TOKYO, JAPAN: Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation will expand a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compound production facility in Thailand, responding to growing demand, mainly for automobiles. The scheduled production is said to start in April 2012. The current production capacity at 15,000 t/yr will increase by 4,000 t/yr to reach 19,000 t/yr. The company has planned an investment of about ¥ 500 million ($ 6 million) for the facility expansion.

Mitsubishi Chemical supplies PVC compounds to Thailand and neighbouring countries, through its subsidiary, Sunprene (Thailand) Co Ltd. The company plans to expand PVC compound production at its Sunprene, Amata Nakorn Plant.

The performance polymers business, including PVC compounds, is positioned as a “growth business” for Mitsubishi Chemical and it will continue to promote global business expansion in this field, said the company.
